10 Things I’ve Learned While In College

Hi my lovely blog readers. So I know I’m a day late with putting out new content but I ran into a major issue yesterday while trying to get something new together. While I was sick and having recently had some memory problems I found out that I have come to a stand still and forgotten my writing style when it comes to my book reviews, which was suppose to be the original new content. So after having a semi freak out I decided to go a different route by focusing more on college tips and life tips for a while. I know some of you really love the book reviews but if it’s not my best I don’t want to put it out there.  So today I decided to go with a college tip. It’s practically everything I’ve learned in college so far in the past four years and I decided to should share it with you all. Soo lets begin!!

  1. Join a club: Venture out to meet new people while picking up a new hobby or continuing a current hobby you might have . You never know where it can take you. You can make new friends and become familiar with different things going on around the campus
  2. It’s ok to drop a class: I’m not saying just drop it because you don’t like it or because your friends aren’t taking it. What I’m saying is if it’s becoming too much for you to handle, your just not getting the material and your grade is not improving, or if it’s just not for you take a W. Don’t let your pride get the best of you and risk failing the class, if you can’t do it you just cant do it. Move on your strong and still got this.
  3. Please learn to do your Fafsa : I can not stress this enough especially with having an on campus job that dealt with helping students do their Fafsa on a daily basic and scheduling classes. If you know it the process will go by so smoothly and can be finish in a matter of 15 minutes flat. Knowing how to prepares you to know what to do for the next year that way you’re not stuck and it gives you a feeling of accomplishment in your beginning start of adulthood life.
  4. Get a job on campus: When I tell you I have established some of the greatest connections and friendships from working on campus, they truly have helped me out so far. You’ll meet so many great people and get a little taste of understanding the business world if you so happen to get an office job like I have now. The massive perks are if during your college experience your run into some school problems be it with your student account, scholarship problems or anything else school related your connections can make things move a little faster than you could if you did it yourself. Everybody is only a phone call away in a college.
  5. You are an adult now: This is not high school. Nobody is going to be there to hold your hand and make your do your work or act responsible, you either do it or face the consequences. I’m not saying you can’t have fun you just have to find the balance between the two and understand this is a time to really grow up and be the person you want to be.
  6. Get a tutor: If you need help go get it please. Don’t be prideful and think if you go get tutoring your dumb.. NO! If you don’t get the material you just don’t get it. It’s ok it’s happens to a lot of people in college that’s what the tutors are there for, to make sure you are able to give your school work 100 percent and have a full understanding of what your doing. Any little bit of help counts that gets you closer to obtaining your degree.
  7. Takes notes: You are bound to forget something no matter how much you try to retain everything in your brain something will slip. They come in handy a lot especially around exam times, god forbid you get a teacher that lets you have an open note exam and you don’t have any. You can always go back and review something that the teacher said would be on the exam, that way you won’t be missing out on points or become stuck when you know you can’t remember something important.
  8. It’s ok to cry:  You will reach a point some where in your college experience that will make you have a tiny break down. Whether it’s from  being  overwhelmed, you failed an exam, or something else might happen in your life with the combination of college will probably make your cry; Its ok and everybody does it. My mom got me through my last breakdown while we were sitting in her car, it wasn’t pretty but needed. It’s what makes your stronger and able to pick yourself back up and try even harder.
  9. Have a support system: I don’t care who is in it… parents, friends from homes, classmates that have become friends, cousins, or just anybody that’s rooting for you. They will come in handy even if you might think they don’t understand they will still be there for you when you need them the most. Regardless if it’s being a shoulder to cry on, needing to vent to somebody, or just a needing that little pep talk to get you through the day just know they are there for you and they care. You can always count on them.
  10. Most of all HAVE FUN: Yes college is about getting your degree for you field but you don’t  want to be the person that goes to school and never experiences anything fun. So have fun, meet new people, go out on dates, take a random class you thought to never take, start a new hobby,  and last but not least be safe :).

Hope you all enjoyed the college tip. Let me know what you think and don’t forget to share it. Happy Reading Everyone!!!!!!
